Do you want to find more time to read?
Join me on May 1st (tomorrow!!!) for a Values-Based Time Management Workshop—a 60-minute session designed to help you realign your time so you can do more of what you love (like reading!). You’ll take a closer look at where your time is really going, identify your core values, and create a plan to bring your daily actions into deeper alignment with what matters most.
Becca Freeman recently wrote an excellent post about how to read more. She covered some essential points, including read what you want, DNF with reckless abandon, and find your reading people. I love all of these recommendations, but perhaps especially appreciate her suggestion to find your people. You all know that I love talking about books with people and I hadn’t made the direct connection to this being one reason that I love reading but, she’s right! It is! I’ll read a book so that I can talk to my friends about it.
I’ve had a voracious reading month, and I attribute my reading wealth largely to following Becca’s rules (which are simply part of my operating system at this point), but also to the luck of picking up the right books and the right time.
I’ve talked before about how personal reading is – I can read a book and love it today, but if I had read it in 5 years, it might not resonate. And you and I might have similar reading tastes, but based on the weeks we’re each having, we might not connect in the same way with a character. Some of my most memorable reads might not fully stand the test of time like ~*real literature*~ (whatever that means), and yet, they will always be my favorite books because of how they impacted my life when I read them.
So, I’ll echo Becca: Read what you want, when you want and then find people to talk with about books (🙋🏼♀️I’d love to talk to you about books!).
And now, onto the good stuff – all the books that kept me staying up late this month.
