What if the key to a more joyful, meaningful life wasn’t about being more—more productive, more perfect, more in control—but about embracing exactly who you already are?
In The Gifts of Imperfection, bestselling author and researcher Brené Brown explores what it means to live wholeheartedly—to let go of who we think we’re supposed to be and embrace who we truly are. Through years of studying vulnerability, shame, and resilience, Brown identifies 10 guideposts that help us cultivate self-compassion, authenticity, and joy while shedding the need for perfection, comparison, and fear of judgment.
I first read this flagship Brené book years ago, and my current re-read is illuminating a whole new slew of stuff to sort through. I’d wager to say that we all struggle with self-doubt or feeling like we aren’t good enough, and this book is a powerful invitation to meet those feelings head-on.
And we’re going to do it together!
During this virtual book club, we’ll explore insights from the book, share our experiences, and support each other in practicing wholehearted living. We’ll work out how to move forward with courage, compassion, and connection—not because we have everything figured out but because we’re willing to show up as ourselves.
📖 How It Works:
We’ll read the book in four sections, with three discussion-board posts where we’ll dive into key themes.
I’ll open a Book Club subscriber chat to share ongoing insights between discussions.
At the end, we’ll have an optional Zoom discussion to reflect on the book, what we learned, and anything else we want to gab about.
No pressure, no perfection—just a thoughtful space to explore and grow together.
Join us as we embrace the messy, beautiful, imperfect journey toward wholehearted living! Upgrade your subscription below to participate in the comments section and sign up for our Zoom book club call. I’m excited to read with you!
Before you start reading, take the Wholehearted Inventory. This self-reflection tool is designed to help you assess how you already embody the principles of wholehearted living– identifying areas where you're thriving and where you might need to grow.
The inventory provides personalized results and can be a useful companion exercise alongside The Gifts of Imperfection to explore and further guide your journey toward wholehearted living.
Have you taken the inventory yet? What are your initial reactions? If you’ve started reading, share your early thoughts with the group! I can’t wait to dig into this with you all.
