Everywhere I Ate and Drank in Venice
Plus some extra recs. A nostalgic journey for my yearning tastebuds and a helpful guide if you’re lucky to be planning a visit to bella Venezia
Something I haven’t shared in detail here is that last September, my little family took a trip to Italy. Baby’s first flight, our first Europe jaunt since the pandemic, my first return to Italy in far too long, and it was wonderful. As part of our trip, we spent a few days in Venice which made my return a few weeks ago even sweeter. While I was traveling without my family, I was walking streets that we had wandered together, so they were often on my mind in a very specific way that I loved.
Last fall, we stayed near the Rialto Bridge and hit the tourist hot spots but also wandered along side streets and quiet pockets of the city. A few weeks ago, we stuck to the quiet pockets and spent most of our time in Cannaregio and Dorsoduro.
On both trips, we did lots of eating and drinking as we wandered.
Visiting Venice twice in 7 months has endeared the city to me more than I expected and I have been dreaming of going back — how soon can I make it happen, I wonder?
In the meantime, I’m going to take you on a gastronomic journey of everywhere we ate and drank in Venice – a collection from both of my trips! In case you find yourself in charming Venice before I do, please think of me while you enjoy your chicchetti. ✨
