I’m never prepared for the New Year’s resolution noise that comes with the calendar rollover. I love the holiday season and its charming chaos so much that by the time January abruptly arrives, I’m always surprised. We leave our Christmas decorations up for most of January to cling to the season and also slowly mourn the end, which means by the time I’m finished with Christmas, it’s almost February. I’ve missed the resolution hype and honestly, that’s fine with me.
I do like the practice of looking to the future and putting your hopes and dreams down on paper, though. And one thing I want to be more intentional about this year is celebrating and savoring the joy-filled moments that make up my regular days.
The week between Christmas and New Year’s, my whole little family was home from work and school and we had zero plans. In the fall, I was bummed to not have anything booked and struggled with the plan of having no plans. I spent a fair amount of time browsing flights and hotels in a handful of destinations just in case! But we stayed home.
