Book Club: Gifts of Imperfection Kick-Off
What if the key to a more joyful, meaningful life wasn’t about being more—more productive, more perfect, more in control—but about embracing exactly who you already are?
And catch up with Week 1 here:
And Week 2 here:
OOF, the Guideposts this week hit me HARD! Cultivating creativity, play, rest, calm, and meaningful work are all things I deeply aspire to and desperately want. And yet, I’m incredibly challenged by the coupled call to let go of comparison, exhaustion as a status symbol, anxiety, and self-doubt.
How did these show up for you? I’m so excited to talk about these in the comments and on April 8th (sign up for our Zoom call with the link at the bottom)!
Choose a prompt below and share what resonates with you from this section:
In Guidepost #7, Brené argues that play and rest are essential, not optional. How do you currently prioritize (or struggle to prioritize) play and rest in your life? How do play, rest, and creativity contribute to wholehearted living?
What role does creativity play in your life? Are there any creative pursuits you’ve abandoned due to fear or perfectionism?
Joy and gratitude are deeply connected. Can you recall a moment of joy from the past week? What role did gratitude play in that experience?
Many of us tie our self-worth to productivity. What does it look like to let go of productivity as self-worth? What would it look like to measure your worth in a different way?
The phrase “anxiety as a lifestyle” paints a vivid picture of our world today. How do you mitigate anxiety in your life? Where do you see yourself managing anxiety instead of taking steps to lessen it?
See you in the comments!
